Beware of Gender Policy and Action Plan

Emmanuel Community outlines the danger of the T&T GENDER POLICY AND ACTION PLAN being presented to Government for approval by the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs

What is the Gender Policy and Action Plan?
An attempt to impose Gender Mainstreaming into all levels of public life, education and law.

What is Gender Mainstreaming (GM)?
The ideology of “Woman’s Empowerment”, a new world order of “gender equity” and “gender equality”, born from the 4th World Conference on Women at Beijing in 1996, and promoted worldwide by the United Nations.

What is the intent of GM?
GM is intended to introduce a Radical Feminist view of humanity worldwide, contrary to Christianity and common sense.

What is a Radical Feminist view?
Radical Feminists want to redefine equality between men and women so that it no longer consists of equal dignity as persons, but instead entails identity of functions and roles. Equality of women and men is reduced to usefulness, the philosophy of utilitarianism. Motherhood and fatherhood are debased.

Women can be “father” and men “mother”. Marriage is seen as slavery, a “patriarchal” construct to be rejected. Family based on husband and wife is rejected; instead, community is their focus rather than family.

What is their meaning of Gender in GM?
It is an attempt to rearrange the truth to fit an ideology. In the United Nations’ and the Gender Policy’s language, gender is put forward as a social construct, and does not refer to biological characteristics; rather, we to become men and women through the social expectations of the gender category into which we are placed from birth. Gender is discussed in terms of our 'masculinity' and 'femininity'.”

What does this redefinition of gender do for the ideology of Women’s Empowerment?
It allows them to break away from what they refer to as stereotypes, e.g. men as husbands and fathers, women as wives and mothers. It allows them to put forward the incredible claim that there are many genders.

They started with five: male, female, homosexual, lesbian, and bisexual or transsexual. Whatever you want to be you are! They speak of gender fluidity: “the ability to freely and knowingly become one or many of a limitless number of genders…” We understand that in Canada they now talk of thirty genders!

What are the practical consequences of this redefinition of gender?
The emergence of never-before-seen fundamental and inalienable human rights. Two all-encompassing ones are “sexual and reproductive rights” The first is a cover for rights to explicit sex education and contraceptive services, and the second entails access to abortion.

They fight feverishly to get this phrase incorporated into as many international agreements as possible to give legal leverage to legalise abortion.

Another is “sexual orientation”, the right to the most perverse and immoral sexual behaviour demanded by the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender lobby.
Look out for these terms in any proposed legislation!

What are the deeper consequences of this redefinition of gender?
For centuries, the world religions have sought to bring some degree of self-mastery to sinful man. In Christianity there is the call to “be holy as the Lord thy God is holy”, through the self-mastery that God’s own Spirit helps us to acquire. Now once more the dragon (Rev 12:9, 17) seeks to devour man through the materialistic ideologies (Pope Benedict XVI Aug 15, 2007) that rule man’s minds and actions today.

Why is the Gender Policy being promoted by the Ministry, ASPIRE (an abortion lobby for Planned Parenthood), and Radical Feminists?
Once it is made into law, the hidden agendas embedded in the language of ‘rights’ will permit legal enforcement. The permissive sympathies exhibited throughout the policy will remove good morality from society that has held people together with a measure of respect for human dignity, life, justice and God’s laws.

Explicit sex education, contraception, abortion and same-sex unions are high priorities, though vigorously denied. Don’t be fooled by their rhetoric, it’s to lull us – always look at what is being done overseas where the gender perspective has been established!

Social worker/activist, Verna St. Rose Greaves recently declared to teachers (note the Gender language), “Like other institutions of socialisation such as the family and religious organisations, schools have the potential to be zones of oppression”.

She was also reported as saying that “it was in the ‘zones’ of socialisation or oppression that gender stereotyping (sic) are perpetuated when children are not taught about gender and issues of equality and human rights.” (Newsday 8/8/07)

How will this affect individuals?
In promoting false ‘rights’, the rights of others will be abrogated. For example, “hate speech” laws have been passed in Europe and the UK. A Catholic bishop in Belgium has been charged with speaking out against homosexual intercourse, in Sweden a Protestant pastor was jailed for doing likewise and in Canada there is a law declaring the Bible as “hate speech”.

In the UK a law prevents teaching against same-sex activity even in Catholic schools. That is what is intended for Trinidad & Tobago.

Marriage and family takes a huge hit. The blind ideological commitment of radical feminists leads to tragic results, as everything is reduced to gender, sexual freedom, contraception and abortion, while the real needs of women to form stable, loving relations, are ignored.
