These horses silhouetted against the Mayaro beach look so relaxed.
Having retired from their jobs of running high stake races in Arima, they can just be themselves for a while, not performing, not earning money for their owners.
They remind me of holidays in Mayaro when we savoured the strong breeze and took long walks to the far end at St. Joseph 's Village. It was when we learnt to ride some waves and duck under others.
It was comic book time and all fours time. There was absolutely no pleasure as great as hanging a jack and no fear as paralysing as having a bare jack in one's hand. Holidays are holy days, they are days when we rediscover that God is also a God of play whose delight is to be with the children of this world. |
