This photo brings to mind the piles of sorrel on the trays of vans along the highway.

We say to ourselves "Better get it now while the price is still decent."(not cheap – just decent!!)

Sorrel takes time to come to this point. The months of green give way to the delicate flowers like the one in the photo and eventually to the beautifully shaped fruits. We have to wait on them. Good to look at and better to drink!

Waiting is so much part of life. Pregnant mothers await the moment of giving birth.

Artists long for an inspiration to create a work of art. Lovers wait for the question to be popped. Students wait on exam results after years of study.

Researchers hope for a break-through in their search for cures. And T&T waits for solutions to our many problems. How long O Lord? How long?

God's time is not our time. The sorrel of Advent and Christmas reminds us that we wait in hope for God to transform our world.
