This photo of Rosary Church reflected in the bank opposite recalls the project being started to restore this beautiful building.
It is perhaps just and right that the business which blocks its beauty, in this photo also reflects the beauty of the church. Such are the paradoxes of life.
I remember the "limes" we used to have when Rosary was a place where church workers could enjoy themselves in pre-carnival get-togethers! Now the church does wonderful work serving the city workers who flock to midday Masses and Lenten retreats.
Inner city planning in other parts of the world now requires that some flats be built above businesses so that the cities do not become ghost towns in the evenings.
Rosary will continue to remind Port-of-Spain that God wants to be part of the workplace and that beauty can found not only in the heart of a flower but in the heart of a city. |
