When Schumacher titled his book Small is Beautiful, he was not thinking of a patch of impatiens resembling the supporters of T&T!
He was propounding his economic theory that small countries should acquire appropriate technology suited to their size and needs.
As the smallest nation ever to go to the World Cup, we reflect on the power of little people. We offered a celebration of life's blessings, and a sense of hope that all can live in a harmonious world where colour and race do not matter.
As we look at the composition of our team, we note that many had their beginnings in small places and were trained in non-prestige schools as the billboard in Morvant attests.
Little people like Rosa Parks, Steve Biko, and Mother Theresa make a big difference to our world. Not to mention Jesus Christ from the despised village of Nazareth!
It is the little acts of love, the cup of cold water given to a thirsty patient, a warm greeting at the sign of peace, a drop from church on a Sunday morning, these small thing make life worth living for all. Small is beautiful. |
