Red for so!

Red is everywhere, in our buntings and flags, in our shops and stores and in this photo of the roucou.

In our Church, red is the colour of the Holy Spirit, the giver of life and love, the spirit of truth.

It is also used for the apostles and martyrs who shed their blood for others.

We consume the wine of the Eucharist to give us joy as we give ourselves to others.

The red in the national flag symbolises the warmth of our people. The red of the roucou is for me the symbol of all that is beautiful in the ordinary and natural around us.

It gives colour and brings out the flavour of food without any artificial additives. It is when we are Trini –to-the-bone, discovering that we have the inner resources to live good with one another.
